english assignment: Interview Lecturer (2012)


Where were you started writing? 
“In Malang, at the daily of Surat Indonesia.”

Who inspired you?
“Goenawan Muhammad – “Asmaradana” and “Di Beranda Ini Angin Tak Kedengaran Lagi” (poetry), Mira W Margaretha (novel), Umberta Eco (writer), and Khalil Gibran (poet)”

Why do you prefer writing?
“Writing has many advantages, including high salary, fame, and in academic too. Since I was still a student until now, I have written 4000 articles. A writing should have emotion and soul, because without them, all of the emotion would be bottled up”.

What kind of difficulty that you find when you’re writing?
“Writer’s block, but it only happens for amateur writer, not a professional like me. It can be avoided by reading a lot of books to get references.”

How do you feel when you writing?
“I feel happy because I like writing.”

When were you started writing?
“In March 11, 1984, when I just graduated from college.”

Do you have any memorable experience when you writing?
“I do. When I was working on my writing, my laptop got infected by computer virus. I forgot to backup the data, and they’re all gone. By the time I realized that, I screamed really loud and shocked my family.”

Mr. Masri Sareb : “Writing is My Oxygen.”

On January 23, 1962 in the village of Jangkang, Malaysia, a future writer was born. His name is Masri Sareb Putra. He first started writing in Malang, March 11, 1984, while he was working at Surat Indonesia daily newspaper. At that time, he was just graduated from college. According to him, he loves writing because it has many advantages, including high salary, fame, and in academic too. Since he was still a student until now, he has written 4000 articles. “A writing should have emotion and soul, because without them, all of the emotion would be bottled up and can’t be disclosed.” as said by the man who wrote Flamboyan Kembali Berbunga. 
In writing, there are numerous people whose works inspire him. Those people including Goenawan Muhammad with his poetry “Asmarandana”, “Di  Beranda Ini Angin Tak Kedengaran Lagi.”, Mira W Margaretha and her novels, Umberta Eco and his writing, and also Khalil Gibran with his poetry.
Normally, he doesn’t really find any difficulty in writing. But he wasn’t always this professional. When he was younger, oftentimes he came across ‘Writer’s Block’.  However, it can be avoided by reading a lot of books to get references. 
He has many experiences in writing, one of them is when his laptop was infected by virus, and he forget to backup the data, so his data was gone. All of his family was shock when they heard a writer scream loud, but instead of that incident, he still loves writing. “Writing is my oxygen”, he said.
